Interior Engineering

PRE-ENGINEERING. This is where the difference is made during a project. We can make the detail catalogue combined with workshop drawings of any cabin like the VIP to set a standard for the entire project.

The detail catalogue is the backbone of any well engineered interior and the first translation from aesthetical design to a buildable product. LY3 and PYC class requirements or SOLAS safety standards play an evenly important role in material choice as the preference of the interior designer or manufacturer. Full scale details are set up to define aesthetical requirements and the production and assembly method.

Workshop drawings of a single Guest or VIP cabin are set up based on the earlier mentioned detail catalogue. When the layout, ceiling plan, elevations and sections of the room are made properly, at least 85% of all technical and aesthetical questions are answered.

ASSEMBLY AND APPROVAL DRAWINGS. By respecting aesthetical, technical and practical matters, we set up the project’s layouts as an accurate 3D model or 2D plan. Exterior designs and interior designs rarely line up due to a lack of information during the design stage. Our method gives us insight into the available space by combining information such as 3D construction models, piping models, HVAC, electrical plans, class requirements, fire regulations and safety plans. We also enhance the detail of our model by adding insulation thickness.

A practical and accurate layout will be set up based on this information and the interior design. We can also set up the layout with only a stated amount of beds, cabins, bathrooms, salons, etc. when the interior design is not available. The end result can be delivered as a 3D model, a 2D general arrangement or both.

PRODUCTION DRAWINGS. Layouts, ceiling plans and wall views are made to create a mutual understanding of what the end product will look like. These drawings will be drawn to a scale of either 1:10 or 1:20, but they will always provide the clarity needed. The plans and elevations include dimensions, material codes, switches and sockets, AV equipment, safety systems such as hi-fog nozzles and safety gear when required.

Workshop drawings are made to provide information on site during manufacturing or installation on board. These drawings are also the papers that the yard and client's representative agree on and sign before the manufacturing process starts.

3D MODELLING. All our 2D workshop drawings are based on our own 3D models. This gives us the perfect opportunity to build the visual product before anyone else. Additionally, we model our interiors based on the information provided by the shipyards. This means any collision of the interior with the vessel's construction, piping or insulation will be detected in the earliest possible stage. And with all this information available, we generate our 2D workshop drawings, showing every non-interior part of the vessel as well.

3D Modelling has become more and more a request by itself. Due to the innovative industry that we take part in, 3D models are the type of information that explains itself perfectly to clients and builders for visual or technical purposes.

3D VISUALS AND RENDERINGS. The grey areas of a design are defined during our work. Really understanding a design makes it possible to fill in the blanks. At times the grey areas are more than just that. We will design the guest corridor that merges with the existing interior design of the guest cabins, a galley interior that should match with the owners previous yacht or floor pattern as seen in a magazine. The supporting aspect of designing, engineering and 3D visualising will take away the need to outsource to third parties.

Interior Engineering Consultancy

With more than 20 years of experience, we provide consultancy services in the following fields of expertise:

  • Material selections of marble and semi-precious stones, veneers and solid wood.

  • Design analyses for the purpose of subcontracting an interior. We make sure the design provides enough information to get a proper and honest quotation.

  • Design analyses for the purpose of managing pre-engineering and integration meetings.

  • Quality control during the manufacturing and installation processes of high-end interiors.

  • Budget optimisation: When the interior scope exceeds the budget, we find solutions by redefining manufacturing and design specifications. Nonetheless, we will always respect the look, feel and quality of the product.

Exterior Design

Exterior design is a harmonious interaction between the aesthetic and the practical aspect of a yacht. Starting with sketches and a concept based on the client’s desires, we will capture the general look and charisma of the yacht. The design and features of the yacht will be further developed by creating the layout of the interior spaces. A visual presentation in 3D and several renderings will portray the finished design in full glory and with all its details.

One of our team members, Alejandro Crespo, has mastered the craft of exterior yacht design at the prestigious Italian university “Politecnico di Milano”. Being a young and creative professional with new ideas, Alejandro’s designs can be described as elegant, minimalistic and pure. The innovative and powerful lines, combined with a good understanding of the client’s point of view, make Alejandro’s designs feel like a fresh breeze in the yachting industry.
